Keep your mask on!
What is the COVID-19 virus?
According to the World Health Organisation(WHO), the COVID-19 virus is an infectious disease caused by the newly discovered coronavirus. Most people infected with the COVID-19 virus will experience mild to moderate respiratory illness and recover without requiring special treatment.
Though in most cases, those affected seem to recover after a few weeks of self-quarantine, by now it is apparent that this virus is not something to be taken lightly. The past few months especially have consisted of global lockdowns and intense social distancing which has made it hard to ignore the possible reality that the situation is not going to get better any time in the near future.
With multiple drug trials being run by organisations all around the world in order to develop a vaccine, we must each take the utmost care in maintaining the hygiene and social distancing in attempt to stay out of harms way. It is time for a new social order, where we must each do our bit to remain safe and healthy for both ourselves and the people surrounding us.
In times like these, there is a desperate need to adhere to a few mandatory health and safety guidelines to remain safe and keep our loved ones protected as well!
- 1. Wear a mask : We cant stress enough on the need to keep your mask on at all times when your stepping out of your house. Masks serve as a barrier for the transmission of disease through nose and mouth, thereby keeping us safe.
- 2. Maintain social distance : Stay 6 feet apart from others at all times. We know its hard to maintain this distance at all times, but do be extremely careful when coming in contact with others and only step out when its absolutely necessary!
- 3. Avoid going to crowded places : Why? Where people come together in crowds, you are more likely to come into close contact with someone that has COVID-19 and it is more difficult to maintain physical distance.
- 4. Stay home and self-isolate : If you're experiencing minor symptoms such as cough, headache, mild fever, stay home until you recover. Have someone bring you supplies. If you need to leave your house, wear a mask to avoid infecting others. Why? Avoiding contact with others will protect them from possible COVID-19 and other viruses.
These are a few of the basic measure you should definitely take in dealing with the pandemic. Its the acceptance of a new way of life.
We're all in this fight together so make sure to stay safe and healthy so as to ensure others around you feel safe as well!
